For this commercial project, our team carried out the professional installation of 2mm vulcanized rubber flooring supplied by the client.
Thin rubber roll flooring requires a different level of installation control compared to thicker rubber gym tiles or mats. At only 2mm thick, the finished surface follows the condition of the substrate closely, making proper preparation, accurate cutting and attention to finishing especially important.
Installing Thin Vulcanized Rubber Roll Flooring
With 2mm rubber flooring, there is very little thickness available to conceal imperfections underneath the material.
Before installation, the existing floor needs to be checked and properly prepared so that the rubber can sit evenly across the surface.
The installation process also requires the correct adhesive system and proper application to achieve consistent bonding without affecting the finished surface.
Precision Cutting Around Corners and Edges
One of the biggest differences between a basic flooring installation and a professionally finished job can be seen around the details.
For this project, our installers had to work around different:

Floor transitions
Doorways
Changes in surface and floor finishes
Irregular termination points
Each section of rubber flooring is measured and cut on site to follow the actual profile of the space.
With thin roll flooring, inaccurate cuts are immediately visible. Corners should follow the wall profile closely, while exposed edges and termination points need to remain straight and clean.
Clean Joints Between Rubber Rolls
Roll flooring also requires careful planning of the seams between adjoining sheets.
The rolls are positioned and aligned before final bonding so that the joints remain tight and consistent throughout the installation.
Good seam preparation is particularly important with vulcanized rubber flooring, where poorly aligned joints can become visually obvious across a large continuous floor.
Using the Correct Flooring Adhesive
Different flooring materials and substrates may require different adhesive systems.
For this installation, a suitable flooring adhesive was used to achieve proper bonding between the vulcanized rubber and the prepared substrate.
Adhesive application needs to be controlled carefully. Excess adhesive around joints and edges should be cleaned during the installation process to maintain a clean finished surface.
